Overnight Train - Bangkok to Chiang Mai
Acknowledged to be one of the great overnight train rides in the world, the 12+ hour rail trip from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is a fascinating experience. In this video, Burt Woolf and his Thai college classmate, Sansoen Thamavit have 2nd class, air-conditioned accommodations on the train, which departs at 6:00 PM from downtown Bangkok and arrives at 6:30 AM in Chiang Mai station. Burt got the lower berth this time, but he booked an upper berth on the train ride back. The ride is wonderfully soothing and very comfortable. Upper or lower doesn't matter... you can sleep like a baby in either case!
